About the Program

About the Program

Educator Fellows is a two-year program managed by the New Mexico Public Education Department. This program uses funds made available through the American Rescue Plan Act to increase the availability of qualified educators in New Mexico elementary school classrooms and to increase adult to student ratios in the classroom.

Amber Romero, Program Director

Bio
Amber Romero is a native of New Mexico. She was born and raised in Ruidoso, New Mexico and has been a resident and educator in Las Cruces, New Mexico, for over 20 years. Her experience includes Teacher for grades K-7, Instructional Specialist, Staff Development Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Federal Programs, Coordinator. She is passionate about removing barriers for students and staff to achieve the best possible academic and social-emotional outcomes for students.
